Rosslyn Chapel

Okay, so it's hardly a holiday (Rosslyn Chapel is approximately half an hour's drive from where I live) but I thought I'd 'treat' you to my photos from the famous Templar Knight hang out. Is it the final resting place of the Holy Grail? Unlikely, but it doesn't stop this unique and beautiful building from being one of the most magical and haunting moving places I've ever visited.

You can read about the history of this fascinating place at the official Rosslyn Chapel website (watch out for the dodgy 'hey nonny nonny' music) or find out the facts about the Knights Templars and Scottish Freemasonry at the relatively sane Rosslyn Templars site. Or just read The Da Vinci Code and have a laugh at how little Dan Brown understands Scotland...

The most famous Green Man in Rosslyn Chapel.

Rosslyn is famous for its many Green Men, the ancient pagan symbol of fertility. This fellow is suspended from the ceiling - no wonder he looks a bit cross...
