I See You starts off as a slightly annoying arthouse horror flick, all jarring, blaring soundtrack and creepy, side-eye 'someone's watching you' shots
Helen Hunt plays a pill-popping doctor who's been cheating on her husband (Jon Tenney), a salt-of-the-earth cop currently investigating the disappearance of two local boys. Together with their son, Connor (Judah Lewis), they live in a massive house by a lake. But something strange is happening in their seemingly perfect home. Are they being haunted? Or is it... something else?
Blimey this film is hard to review!
Like Psycho, it's a film of two halves – and the second half takes us to some very unexpected and troubling places. That's not to say it's a cut'n'shut like From Dusk Til Dawn. Instead, the second half acts as a dark, distorting mirror to the first, reflecting ugly privileges and revealing uglier truths. But to say more than that would be to drop an egregious spoiler, and no-one wants that now, do they?
If you get a chance to see this bold, gripping horror/thriller please do. And that, folks, is all I'm saying...
